Business & Consumer Issues Committee 

Meets on the second Wednesday of the month, 6:30 PM

Members: Barbara Adler, Linda Alexander, Sarah Carrillo, Miranda Goodwin-Raab, Doug Kleiman, Andrew Rigie and Ben Rosenfield. 

The primary work of the Business and Consumer Issues (BCI) Committee is to review and submit recommendations, request stipulations, and make complaints regarding applications and their respective agency: 

  • State Liquor Authority (SLA) for bars, restaurants, and hotels;

  • Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) is to issue permits for street festivals, block parties, farmers markets, commercial or promotional events, and other events on the City's streets, sidewalks, and pedestrian plazas while protecting the interests of the City, the community and the general public.

  • Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) Retail Dispensary premises (new or additional), Microbusiness and Registered Organization with Dispensing (ROD)

In addition, the BCI committee can serve in an arbitration capacity and mediate quality-of-life issues between businesses and their residential or other commercial neighbors. The committee will also play a role in coordinating DSNY's efforts on various sanitation initiatives.
